Retire a VPN server safely

Stop new placement, move customer access and remove the server in a controlled order.

Before you begin

Confirm that you have access to the relevant dashboard, billing and server settings before making changes. Do not paste enrolment commands, API tokens, signing secrets, passwords or private keys into support messages.

Procedure

  1. 1

    Disable new profile placement on the server.

  2. 2

    Review every customer and profile still assigned to it.

  3. 3

    Move or recreate access on a healthy replacement server.

  4. 4

    Confirm customers can connect through their replacement profiles.

  5. 5

    Remove the retired server only after its assignments reach zero.

Expected result

No active customer profile depends on the retired server.

If the result is different

Record the approximate time, dashboard address, account reference and exact error. Check the related billing request and server status before trying again.
